The mission of AIDS Services of Austin is to enhance the health and well-being of the community and people affected by HIV and AIDS. For more than 27 years, ASA has provided a continuum of services to the greater Central Texas area.

As a Housing Case Manager you will help individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS become and remain stable in housing. With a compassionate approach you will implement case management across a broad continuum. Your encouraging demeanor will help clients get on track to meet their housing goals.

Using the Best Single Source Plus (BSS+) Program you will help individuals locate housing, improve their income, access financial assistance and obtain support from partner agencies when it's needed. You will work with a diverse population- the BSS+ Program provides housing stability services to HIV positive individuals with a focus on the Chronically Homeless.

You're patient: Problem solving and mentoring come easily to you.  You enjoy being of service.  When you help someone to a personal break through your mind is instantly erased of all the struggle and you're ready for round 2, 3, & 4!

A successful Housing Case Manager must be willing and able to:

  • Provide clear information to clients and case managers.
  • Advocate on behalf of the client.
  • Help clients develop a housing stability plan that focuses on immediate and long term goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date client data and hard files
  • Operate within the budget.
  • Operate according to programmatic standards
  • Function within the Agency's policies and Procedures as outlined in our Personnel Handbook
  • Achieve positive client outcomes.

You Have:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field

Brownie Points for:

  • Two years of experience working with individuals of diverse cultures, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities and/or expressions
  • Experience working with homelessness prevention or the homeless
  • Experience working with substance use or mental health disorders and with other vulnerable populations
  • Training in harm reduction principles and motivational interviewing
  • Bilingual/bicultural (English and Spanish)
