AIDS Services of Austin is excited to expand its mission to help people affected by HIV to build a healthy future by establishing a patient-centered medical home providing life-affirming HIV, PrEP, and primary care for at-risk persons in Central Texas. ASA is looking for a LCSW Behavioral Health Counselor that is a skilled communicator who enjoys providing counseling services to individuals and groups. The LCSW will be part of an integrated team model delivering wrap around services to persons living with HIV and high risk persons.

You have a track record for effectively encouraging patients and facilitating behavior change. You successfully engage and motivate patients struggling with medication adherence and/or retention in care.

Well versed in evidenced based theories and models- You have a strong grasp of frameworks and theories that support behavior change. You have practiced as an LCSW and have successfully integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Social-Cognitive Theory and/or the Informational-Motivational-Behavior (IMB) Skills model into your counseling practice.

Collaborative Approach - You love being part of a team and can effectively communicate with the clinic team, as well as with staff throughout all of ASA's programs. You collaborate with the care team to ensure the patient/client care plan is comprehensive and actionable.

 

Friendly and Empathetic - You enjoy all day face to face interaction with clients/patients. You listen and respond to patient concerns professionally and with compassion. You enjoy working with clients/patients of varied cultures, ethnicities, income levels, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

ASA is looking for a LCSW Behavioral Health Counselor to join the inaugural care team for the new Patient-Centered Medical Home at ASA. As the inaugural LCSW, you will contribute to the design of behavioral health care delivery at the PCMH.

  • Master degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited institution
  • Holds a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) license in the state of Texas
  • Completed clinical supervision requirements at least one year prior to start date
  • At least two years of experience in delivery of individual and group counseling preferred
  • Experience working in community health and/or public health setting preferred
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting where social determinants of health are addressed and integrated in the patient's/client's care plan
  • Experience delivering social work services to a population affected by HIV/AIDS strongly preferred
